Question
How do I add a mAX Satellite to the network?
Answer
Add the included Satellite immediately after the main router is successfully onboarded or at a later time.  Installing the Satellite creates a Mesh network to expand the wireless coverage.  The mAX Dash routers are only sold in a Dual-Pack and are not sold individually.  The two mAX Dash units cover an area up to 5,550 sq. ft.  The mAX Dash routers cannot be mixed with other mAX models W11, W21, W30, and W31.    

The wired backhaul connection is supported after the Satellite is onboarded successfully over Wi-Fi connection.  This document contains the following sections:

Add mAX Satellite
  1. Tap the My Network icon on the bottom of the screen.

    Right click on the image to save it to your computer.
     
  2. Tap either one of the unfilled + mAX Router icon.

  3. Tap the Install Now button.

  4. Tap the Next button to start onboarding the Satellite unit.

  5. The mAX router is being configured for satellite installation.  Tap the Next button.

  6. Unpack the Satellite unit and tap the Next button after taking all items out of the box.

  7. Tap the Continue button to begin reviewing the placement tips.

  8. Placement tip # 1: Place the main Router and Satellite on different floors.  Tap the Next button.

  9. Placement tip #2: Place the main Router and Satellites at least 10 - 30 feet apart.  Tap the Next button.

  10. Placement tip #3: Place the mAX in an open and elevated spot.  Avoid placing next to large appliances.  Tap the Next button.

  11. Placement tip #4: Place the Satellite in a central location and keep it in a spot that's in the vicinity of majority of the client devices so that Satellite has a good line of site of the devices.  Tap the Continue button.

  12. Plug the mAX Satellite into a power outlet using the provided power supply.  Tap Next button, when the mAX has powered on.

  13. Tap the Next button to connect to a Wi-Fi network without Internet access.

  14. The mobile device being used for onboarding will connect to the Satellite.

  15. Tap the Join button.

    NOTE: Android devices will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network.

  16. The Satellite is now successfully connected.  Tap the Next button.

  17. The Satellite is connecting to the mAX Router network.

  18. Tap the Join button.

    NOTE: Android devices will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network.

  19. The Satellite is connecting to the network.

  20. The mAX Satellite will being registering onto the cloud server, this is to keep the device up to date.

  21. Tap the Next button, the Satellite will begin checking for Firmware updates.

  22. Tap the OK button.

    NOTE: The Wi-Fi network connection may disconnect during this time.  Please reconnect to the Wi-Fi network through settings if not connected.

  23. The network is being optimized, please allow up to 15 minutes for this process, certain network configurations will be unavailable during this time.

  24. The Satellite will now be shown on the Home Network topology.
     
  25. Repeat steps 1 through 23 to add the final mAX Satellite.

Wired Backhaul Connection
The wired backhaul connection is supported after the Satellite is onboarded successfully over Wi-Fi connection.  The Satellite must be onboarded first over the Wi-Fi connection, then connect an Ethernet cable to any Ethernet port on the Satellite and the other end of the Ethernet cable to a LAN Ethernet port of the main mAX router.
