mAX Routers: LAN IP Reservation Setup

Question
How do I setup a LAN IP Reservation on my mAX Router?
Answer
NOTE: This article applies to the mAX WC4S, WC4T, W21, W121, W122 Express, W30, W130, W31, W133, W61, and the W161 Routers.

In certain cases, it is best for a client to receive a particular IP address from the mAX Router and always keep that address without having to manually configure it in the client.  This can be accomplished by reserving an IP Address to a client's MAC address.  When the client disconnects and reconnects to the mAX Router, it will receive the IP address that it has been assigned.

It is recommended to set up a LAN IP Reservation for clients that are configured to use Port Forwarding.  This document contains the following sections:

  1. Tap the My Network icon at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Tap the Network Management box.

  3. Tap the LAN Settings link.

  4. Tap the LAN IP Reservation link.

  5. Tap the Add Reservation button.

  6. On the Reserve a LAN IP pop-up box, enter the name of the device for the Enter Rule Name field.
     
  7. Enter a number between 2 - 99 into Enter IP Address field.

    NOTE: By default, the mAX router assigns IP addresses from 192.168.7.100 to 192.168.7.254.  To avoid IP address conflict, enter the IP address between 192.168.7.2 to 192.168.7.99 or the same IP address of the client device currently assigned by the mAX router.  The client’s IP address can be found in the client device or in the mAX router’s client list.  
     
  8. Tap the box for Select your device to expand the list and tap the device to be used for LAN IP Reservation.
     
  9. Tap the Save Changes button.

  10. The LAN IP Reservation configuration will appear as shown.  

    NOTE: To edit the LAN IP Reservation configuration tap the Pencil icon.

  11. Disconnect and reconnect the client from the network to obtain the reserved IP address.
     
  Remove LAN IP Reservation Configuration 
  1. Tap the SURFboard Central app icon.  The Home screen will appear.
     
  2. Tap the Network icon at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Tap the Network Settings + button to expand the card, then tap the LAN Settings link.

  4. Tap the LAN IP Reservation link.

  5. In the LAN IP Reservation screen, swipe left on a LAN IP Reservation configuration from the list and tap the Delete icon.

  6. On the Alert pop-up box, tap the OK button.

  7. The LAN IP Reservation configuration has been deleted.
