Question
How do I setup remote access in my SBX-AC1200P?
Answer
NOTE: The SBX-AC1200P operates as a wireless extender out of the box.  The remote access feature is setup in the primary router that manages the home network.  If the SBX-AC1200P is operating as a wireless router, proceed with the instructions below to setup remote access.

By default, access to the SBX-AC1200P configuration menu is only accessible from the local network.  However, the SBX-AC1200P can also be configured to be accessible from anywhere on the Internet by enabling Remote Access.  This document contains the following sections:
NOTE: The ports used for local and remote access cannot be changed.
 
 
To Verify IP Address for Remote Access
 
NOTE: Like all devices on the Internet, the router has an IP Address on the Internet.  The WAN IP Address is assigned dynamically, verify with the Service Provider for the correct IP Address. 
  1. Connect a Wi-Fi client device, such as a laptop, smart phone or tablet, to the SBX-AC1200P default wireless network. 

    NOTE: The default wireless name and password are located on the back panel of the SBX-AC1200P.

     
  2. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page will appear.
  3. On the Login page, enter admin in the Username field.
  4. Enter password in the Password field.
  5. Click the Login button.  The Home page will appear.

    Right click on the image to save it to your computer. 
     
  6. Move the mouse-cursor over Basic on the main menu and click the Setup link on the sub-menu.  The Basic - Setup page will appear.

  7. On the Basic - Setup page, locate the WAN IP Address as shown below.
     
    NOTE: The WAN IP Address will be used to establish a remote access.

To Enable Remote Access

  1. Connect a Wi-Fi client device, such as a laptop, smart phone or tablet, to the SBX-AC1200P default wireless network. 

    NOTE: The default wireless name and password are located on the back panel of the SBX-AC1200P.

     
  2. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page will appear.
  3. On the Login page, enter admin in the Username field.
  4. Enter password in the Password field.
  5. Click the Login button.  The Home page will appear.

    Right click on the image to save it to your computer.
     
  6. Move the mouse-cursor over Advanced on the main menu  and select the Options link on the sub-menu.  The Advanced - Options page will appear.

  7. On the Advanced - Options page, check the Enable option for Remote Config Management.

    NOTE: A red warning will inform the user that Remote Management is turned on.

     
  8. On the Warning pop-up window, click the OK button.
  9. Click the Apply button.
     
    NOTE: A restart is not necessary, as the settings will immediately take effect.
     
    Right click on the image to save it to your computer.
     
To Establish Remote Access
  1. Locate the WAN IP Address. 
     
    NOTE: Reference the WAN IP Address from the To Verify IP Address For Remote Access section.
     
  2. From a remote location, launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://Wan IP Address into the address box, press the Enter key.  The Login page appears.
  3. On the Login page, enter admin in the Username field.
  4. Enter password in the Password field.
  5. Click the Login button.  The Home page will appear.

To Disable Remote Access
  1. Connect a Wi-Fi client device, such as a laptop, smart phone or tablet, to the SBX-AC1200P default wireless network. 

    NOTE: The default wireless name and password are located on the back panel of the SBX-AC1200P.

     
  2. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page will appear.
  3. On the Login page, enter admin in the Username field.
  4. Enter password in the Password field.
  5. Click the Login button.  The Home page will appear.

    Right click on the image to save it to your computer.
     
  6. Move the mouse-cursor over Advanced on the main menu  and select the Options link on the sub-menu. The Advanced - Options page appears.

  7. On the Advanced - Options page, uncheck the Enable option for Remote Config Management. 
  8. Click the Apply button.
     
    NOTE: A restart is not necessary, as the settings will immediately take effect.
