Question
How do I block local devices from accessing the Internet on my SBX-AC1200P?
Answer
NOTE: The SBX-AC1200P operates as a wireless extender out of the box.  IP Filtering is setup in the primary router that manages the home network.  If the SBX-AC1200P is operating as a wireless router, proceed with the instructions below.

The SBX-AC1200P includes an advanced IP Filtering option to define which local devices will be denied access to the Wide Area Network (WAN).  IP address filters will need to be configured to block Internet traffic to specific network devices on the Local Area Network (LAN) by entering the starting and ending IP addresses range.  IP Filtering is not enabled by default.  This document describes how to enable and configure IP Filtering.

To Configure IP Filtering
  1. Connect a Wi-Fi client device, such as a laptop, smart phone or tablet, to the SBX-AC1200P default wireless network.

NOTE: The default wireless name and password is located on the back panel of the SBX-AC1200P.

  2. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page will appear.
  3. On the Login page, enter admin in the Username field.
  4. Enter password in the Password field.
  5. Click the Login button.  The Home page will appear.

NOTE: Only the LSB (least-significant byte) of the IP address will need to be entered.  The upper bytes of the IP address are set automatically from the SBX-AC1200P Configuration Manager's IP address.

  9. Checkmark the Enabled option to activate the filter.

NOTE: The maximum number of IP Filter ranges can be configured is 10.
