Question
How do I configure port forwarding on my SBR-AC1750?
Answer

Port Forwarding allows the option to run a publicly accessible server on the LAN by specifying the mapping of TCP / UDP ports to a local device.  This enables incoming requests on specific port numbers to reach devices such as Web Servers, Mail Servers, and Digital Video Recorders (DVR).  Some services are predefined under the Commonly Forwarded Ports or be manually configured through the entry.  This document contains the following sections: NOTE 1: It is recommended to manually configure the TCP / IP settings on the server that will be remotely accessible.  If this is done, then it is mandatory to configure the following settings:
  • IP address
  • Subnet mask
  • Default gateway
  • At least one DNS address
If the following settings are configured without the default gateway, remote access to the server will not be available, as it will only be accessible from the local network.

NOTE 2: When manually configuring the TCP / IP settings on a device, make sure that the DHCP pool in the SBR-AC1750 doesn't include the IP address of the server. 
 

Creating a Custom Entry

  1. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page appears.

    NOTE: By default the LAN IP address is 192.168.0.1.  If the default address has been changed, enter the custom address in the address box.

    Right click on the image to save it to your computer.
     
  2. On the Login page:
    a.   Enter password in the Password field.
    b.   Click the Login button.  The Home page appears.

  3. Move the mouse-cursor over the Firewall tab and select the Port Forwarding sub-link.  The Firewall - Port Forwarding page appears.
  4. On the Firewall - Port Forwarding page:
    a.   Service List - Click the drop-down tap and select Custom and click the Add button.

    NOTE: The options for Enable is check marked automatically.
     
    b.   Description - Enter a desired name.
    c.   Inbound port - Enter the desired port number and re-enter the desired port number.
           
    NOTE: If it is desired to forward a range of ports, enter the first number of the range in the first box, and the last number of the range for second box.

    d.   Type - Click on the drop-down menu and select the appropriate protocol (TCP, UDP, or Both).
    e.   Private IP Address  - Enter the IP address of the device.
    f.    Private port - Enter the desired port number and re-enter the desired port number.
     
    NOTE: If it is desired to forward a range of ports, enter the first number of the range in the first box, and the last number of the range for second box.
     
    g.   Click the Apply button.

Enabling Commonly Forwarded Ports

  2. On the Login page:
    a.   Enter password in the Password field.

  4. On the Firewall - Port Forwarding page:
    a.   Service List - Click the drop-down tap and select World of Warcraft and click the Add button.  This example uses World of Warcraft as the commonly forwarded port.

    NOTE: The options for Enable, Description, Inbound port, Type and Private port will auto populate.

    b.   Private IP address - Enter the IP address of the device.
    c.   Click the Apply button.
