Question
How do I configure the firewall in SBG7580-AC? 
Answer
The SBG7580-AC Firewall has various settings related to blocking or exclusively allowing different types of data through the gateway from the Internet to the home network.  Even if specific web content is allowed on the computer level, it can be blocked on the gateway level using the firewall options.  By default, the Firewall is set to On; it is recommended to be enabled.  This document describes how to setup the SBG7580-AC firewall.

 
Firewall Setup
  1. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page will appear.

    NOTE: A security or private risk alert may appear on the web browser advising users to proceed with caution when accessing the Web Manager. There is no risk in proceeding to the Web Manager. For instructions to by-pass the alert screen, refer to article # 18181 - Alert Message for Web Manager Access.
     
  2. On the Login page, enter admin in the User Name field.
     
  3. Enter password or a customized password in the Password field.

    NOTE: When using the default password to login, it may be required to set a unique password to proceed to the Web Manager.  For assistance with Web Manager Access, refer to article # 18248 – SBG7580-AC: Web Manager Access.
     
  4. Click the Apply button.  The Alert!! window will appear.

  5. The Alerts!! window includes information about the Parental Control via the Secure Home Internet Service mobile app available on the Google Play Store (Android) and App Store (iOS).
    • Check the Do not show this window again box and click the Close button to stop the alert window from appearing during the next login.
    • Click the Close button to bypass the alert window.  The alert window will appear during the next login.

  6. On the System Basic Setup page, click the Firewall link on the top menu.  The Firewall Settings page will appear.

  7. On the Firewall Settings page, leave the option Enable Firewall as checked.
     
  8. To disable DoS attack protection, uncheck the Enable DoS Attack Protection Firewall option.  
     
  9. To disable ping blocking, uncheck the Enable Ping Blocking option.
     
  10. To disable IPSec Pass Through, uncheck the Enable IPSec Pass Through option.
     
  11. To disable PPTP Pass Through, uncheck the Enable PPTP Pass Through option.
     
  12. To disable L2TP Pass Through, uncheck the Enable L2TP Pass Through option.
     
  13. To enable Block Fragmented IP Packets, check the Enable Block Fragmented IP Packets option.
     
  14. Click the Apply button.  The Firewall Settings page will refresh.
