Question
How do I troubleshoot my SB6180 connection?
Answer

This document describes how to troubleshoot the connection on the SB6180.

  1. In order to receive Internet service be sure to register the modem's HFC MAC ID with the MSO.
  2. Verify that the coaxial cable is connected to the cable outlet and modem.
  3. Verify that the Ethernet cable is connected from the modem to the computer.
  4. Verify the computer is set to obtain TCP/IP automatically.
  5. Verify that the Power, Receive, Send, and Online LEDs are on.

For additional troubleshooting information:

  1. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.100.1 into the address box.  The Status page appears.

  2. Click the Connect link on the left-hand menu.  The Status Connection page appears.

    The Downstream Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), Downstream and Upstream Power levels are listed below.  These levels will need to be in range to receive a good signal. In addition, verify that an CM IP Address is listed below. This is the IP address that the MSO will provide to the Cable modem..
