This one-day, instructor-led course provides an introduction to DOCSIS concepts for people new to this technology. Topics include the early cable system architecture and evolution of the DOCSIS standard from Release 1.0 to the current version of DOCSIS, the role of the CableLabs consortium and what they do, as well as DOCSIS network components and interfaces. This course also provides an introduction to the basic operations of a DOCSIS Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) and cable modem data flow, including how data packets flow through the layers of the CMTS protocol stack and the cable modem protocol stack.
