E6R214: MPLS Principles

Register Now

This self-paced eLearning is part of the suite of courses for Routing for the E6000 CER. This eLearning provides overall information about MPLS. This course discusses how MPLS differs from traditional routing, how MPLS fits into the OSI and TCP/IP models, and MPLS architecture and components. It deals with establishing MPLS neighbors, how to target specific neighbors, and troubleshoot MPLS. It also explains how to configure MPLS to create both Level 2 and Level 3 VPNs with MPLS. Included in this course are video examples showing how to configure MPLS, VRFs, targeted LDP, EoMPLS, and L3VPNs.

By the end of the course, the student should be able to:

  • Explain what MPLS does and how it differs from standard routing protocols
  • Identify the basic components of MPLS
  • Describe how MPLS operates on the Control and Data planes
  • Understand how MPLS creates neighbor relationships
  • Describe differences between the VPN Overlay and Peer-to-Peer Models
  • Understand how to create Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPNs
  • Identify steps for troubleshooting MPLS
