This one-day, instructor-led course provides the basic DOCSIS knowledge you need to maintain an E6000 CER  in your headend facility. The first half of the day will introduce DOCSIS concepts including a description of cable system architecture and evolution of the DOCSIS standard from Release 1.0 to the current version of DOCSIS. You’ll also discuss the role of the CableLabs consortium, as well as identify DOCSIS network components and interfaces. This course also provides an introduction to the basic operations of a DOCSIS Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) and cable modem data flow, including how data packets flow through the layers of the CMTS protocol stack and the cable modem protocol stack.

After you have mastered the basics of DOCSIS, the second half of this course introduces you to E6000 CER hardware. You’ll discuss E6000 CER legacy Generation 1 and see how Generation 2 hardware (UCAM-2, DCAM-2/DPIC-2, RSM-2/RPIC-2Q) enhances capacity and density of the E6000 CER. Topics include how the E6000 CER functions in the network, descriptions of front/back chassis modules, the new Fan Tray II, and other E6000 CER hardware.
