This course introduces learners to E6000 CER hardware and the Hybrid Chassis Mode configuration.  Hybrid Chassis Mode provides the opportunity to simultaneously support an Integrated Converged Cable Access Platform (I-CCAP) and a Converged Cable Access Platform Core (CCAP Core) for Remote PHY processing. The course also discusses E6000 CER legacy Generation 1 and Generation 2 hardware (UCAM-2, DCAM-2/DPIC-2, RSM-2/RPIC-2Q) that enhances capacity and density of the E6000 CER and includes overviews of upstream and downstream DOCSIS 3.1 OFDMA and OFDM capabilities.

Course Topics

Topics include how the E6000 CER functions in the network, descriptions of front/back chassis modules, the Fan Tray II, Hybrid Chassis Mode operational considerations, and new cost-saving, energy-efficient hardware modules designed specifically for CCAP Core processing.

Are you already familiar with the E6000 CER? No problem! An assessment quiz before the first lesson gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge. If you pass, you are directed to the second lesson where you will learn about the new features contained in Release 8.0.

As part of the E6D201 E6000 CER Operations curriculum, this course is delivered to students upon registration. This course is also available for standalone registration.

By the end of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Identify and describe hardware components and their functions.
  • Hybrid Chassis Mode operational considerations.
  • Recognize the differences of the Generation 1 (Gen 1) and Generation 2 (Gen 2) components and discover the value of Gen 2 hardware
  • Understand the benefits of DOCSIS 3.1 channels on the upstream and downstream.

Identify all the new features contained in Release 8.0 of the E6000 CER.
